The Community Design Workshop Summary

The Community Design Workshop Summary summarizes the Future 50 process so far and outlines the concepts, strategies, and big ideas developed during the Community Design Workshop.

The Future 50 Design Workshop was a three day work session that built on the community engagement efforts throughout summer and fall 2018. The workshop brought together traffic/ transportation consultants, economic development consultants, and architectural consultants to explore strategies and design concepts for achieving the community goals for Highway 50.

The work session began with information sharing that included site walks of the corridor, presentations of background information on public input, traffic analysis and economic conditions. The afternoon of the first and second day were open work sessions where the public was welcome to drop in. Each evening of the 3 day workshop culminated in a Public Open House sharing the work from the day.

This document provides a summary of key outcomes and community input from the Future 50 Design Workshop. You can view or download the summary and other project documents here.

Next Steps

Over the coming weeks the Community Builders Team will refine the concepts developed at the workshop and will be updating drawing that reflect community feedback from the Night Three Open House for release in early January. Future 50 project leaders will also meet with individual businesses, property owners, and other key stakeholder groups within the Uptown District to discuss opportunities, ideas, and concerns from the ideas developed in mid January, and hold an additional community workshop in late January. A final concept and action plan will be developed that will be presented to the City and CLC, who will have the responsibility of implementing the plan’s action items. Community Builders will continue to provide support as requested to see project success.
